Actually, I am already living my dream a little bit.

Much luxury nowadays revolves around appearance and exclusivity, but according to HRH Margarita de Bourbon de Parme, true luxury is actually about comfort, tranquility, and living according to your own values. With the jewellery of De Parme Design, she translates that vision into refined jewellery where nature, timelessness, and responsibility come together.

“For me, luxury means simply being comfortable,” she says. “But there is a deeper layer underneath. Are you comfortable with your living environment? Does the way you live still align with your own values? Ultimately, that also has everything to do with the design of my products.” According to De Bourbon de Parme, nature forms the most important source of inspiration in this regard. “I am actually a sketcher first and foremost. The interplay of lines that you encounter everywhere in nature fascinates me enormously. Organic forms are also graphic. That is why I like to work from leaves, trees, and natural structures.”

Timelessness and nature

That natural inspiration translates into collections that are consciously designed to be timeless. “Nature is timeless, so I want my jewellery to be timeless too. So that multiple generations can wear and pass it on.” The creative process almost always begins with sketches on tracing paper. “Sometimes it also starts with a photo. Then I look for the lines or the message I want to convey. Various landscapes and ecosystems play an important role in this. For me, it is important that inspiration comes from different biotopes: the ruggedness of the forest, the meadow landscape, and the waterside. There is an enormous amount of biodiversity there.”

A responsibility

According to De Bourbon de Parme, luxury today can no longer be separated from origin and responsibility. When asked why that is so important, she answers resolutely: “Because we have a responsibility.” That thought runs like a common thread through the brand. “Of course, first and foremost, someone simply has to find a design beautiful. However, I think it is wonderful when people also understand the story and pass it on.” According to her, the idea of passing it on is also part of this. “People invest in beautiful things so they can pass them on later. How wonderful is it, then, that you are not only wearing something beautiful, but at the same time contributing to nature? That is why, with every purchase, I donate a portion to projects that strengthen biodiversity.”

International ambition

Meanwhile, the brand continues to grow within the international luxury lifestyle segment. “I am currently working on a third line. This one is based on water. In addition, I want to expand further internationally. Europe is definitely an ambition, and eventually America as well.” The first steps have already been taken, she says proudly. “Actually, I am already living that dream a little bit. And when you create such beautiful things, you can also plant a seed that makes people think about things. Then they naturally become ambassadors for the future.”
